Today I took and passed my ColdFusion ACE Exam with a score of 84% just 55 days after I began using coldfusion after not having touched it in 10 years.

I managed to take over the lead development at my new company, got our big event website up and running all while studying for my test learning a new eviroment and learning how the new company works.

Not a bad couple of months in reality. Oh yeah did I mention that on Monday I am off to Las Vegas for 16 days for work.

Well before I move on to the new I must start with the old. About ten years ago (in fact 8 days short of ten years) I started a new position as the webmaster for the local newspaper. At the time I was still really new to web design but I had a year under my belt and that was a lot more then most people had in 1998.

It was a great time in the media industry things where growing and newspapers were really making the push to get on the web. When I started we were only serving about 36,000 page views a month and were quite excited about the direction every thing was moving.

Over the next ten years I would grow right along with our web site in terms of my knowledge and skills as a designer/programmer. It was a great company to get started with and I really enjoyed the day to day workings of getting a newspaper out the door and online. That along with the people that I have worked with over the years, and any of you that have worked at a newspaper it just seems like people do not leave ever. We have people here that have worked here longer then I have been alive.

With that it’s time for a new beginning!

Tomorrow August 20, 2008 will be my last day at The Pueblo Chieftain and on the following Monday will start my new duties with The Professional Bull Riders. The biggest change will be going from a Linux environment where I have used PHP,Python and frameworks that run on both to a Windows environment using Coldfusion.

I think that this will be a fun and challenging position to be in. There is a lot to learn and I hope that I can bring a lot to the table with eleven years of design/development experience.

I will continue to work on django-weather but updates might be slow as I officiate soccer and with that and new job and new technolgies the updates may be slow.
